PROJECT BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE KIT Following Darlene’s charming, 6” bird pincushion pattern to learn the preparation for hand needle turn appliqué and perfect your stitches. A kit is used to make the preparation for the class easy and the class time more efficient. Backing, piping and stuffing are not included in the kit.

A Power Point presentation on selecting fabrics for appliqué and another on the fundamentals of hand needle turn appliqué are presented in the morning session. A 6” pin cushion [kit] is followed in the afternoon session for an easy ‘hands on’ project sampling circles, stems and templates. A wire ribbon rose bud and French knots are demonstrated

$6.00 KIT INCLUDES: Pattern and all fabrics, some pins [Clover fine silk] and a needle [Richard Hemming & Sons milliners #11]. Printed freezer paper - ready to use. Mettler 60/2 threads for use during class. Fabrics will vary but are normally blue, gold, red and green.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Thimble and misc. hand sewing tools. Small - sharp 4" embroidery scissors for fabrics and threads, small Fiskars chisel point paper scissors, 1 sheet [new 8-1/2” x 11”] fine sandpaper ~or~ sandpaper board, VERITHIN silver art pencil, any mechanical pencil. OPTIONAL: Thread colors are as seen the photo; Mettler 60/2 cotton w/ green printing.

CLASS ROOM SET UP: One iron and board for every 6 to 8 students, ample lighting & table space for each student, two 8’ tables and four extra chairs for the instructor where possible. Can the room be darkened for a Power Point presentation? Is there a white wall?
